Attention Parents of Upcoming 3 year olds and Pre-K Students: Attached is a flyer from Hastings Hospital. Every year they work with the Head Start to provide screenings that is required of our program. This service is available to all children that use Indian Health Services. We encourage you as parents to get your child's screenings completed during the summer to be prepared for the new school year enrollment process.

OSU Ext. HOP program recently provided additional materials, tools, seeds, and plants for a school garden expansion. Students tripled the growing area and planted peppers, onions, herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, squash, and pollinator attracting flowers-to name a few.

Attention 8th Grade Students and Parents: Sequoyah High School PHYSICALS - Tuesday, May 4, 2021 Sequoyah High School will provide free physicals for the 2021-2022 school year to all current SHS students and all prospective students who have turned in an application, Tuesday, May 4, after school. We are still working on some of the details including where students will check in. Updates will be posted on our website (sequoyahschools.org), Facebook (@SequoyahSchools), and Twitter (@SeqActivities). This will be the only physical arranged by SHS. Physicals done before May 1 can only be used through June 30. After that, students must have a new physical completed May 1, 2021, or later to participate in any sports and band. Physical forms are available on the athletics page of our website (sequoyahschools.org, athletics page, physical section - https://www.sequoyahschools.org/vnews/display.v/ART/5d66c5934475b) The forms are meant to be printed front and back. Hard copies of the form are also available at the front desk. The medical history portion of the OSSAA physical form (at the link above) must be completely filled out and the parent/guardian and the student must sign it before the student will be permitted to see the doctor for the physical. Masks will be required for all in attendance. To help with distancing, we will have students report in 3 groups, each group at a different time, and only the student will be permitted beyond the check in location. Each group will be seen in 2 stages. First, students will have vitals checked by nurses. Then they will see a doctor. We normally finish with all physicals by 7:00. Group 1 4:00 Current SHS Freshmen and Sophomores We will begin sending current 9th and 10th graders to nurses at approximately 4:00. Those who are attending in person that day may stay at school while waiting for physicals to begin. We will begin sending students to doctors at approximately 5:15. Group 2 5:30 Current SHS Juniors check in beginning at 5:30. Group 3 6:00 New applicants for 2021-2022 (current 8th graders and new upperclassmen applicants) check in beginning at 6:00.

All households that applied early and verified will receive EBT card packets in the mail first 2 weeks of May. Households applying April 15th through April 30th, will receive packets towards the end of May. Summer Nutrition Program is now accepting applications for the Summer EBT for Children program. This year, parents will need to apply. Just click the link to get started. https://health.cherokee.org/public-health/women-infants-children/sebtc/ The deadline to apply is April 30th, by 5:00 p.m. THIS FEDERALLY FUNDED PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO ANYONE; YOU DO NOT HAVE BE AMERICAN INDIAN TO QUALIFY. Qualifying families will receive approximately $30 of free food per child per month for May, June and July. Benefits are on an EBT card (works like a debit card) that allows you to purchase healthy food for the summer. Participation in this program will have no impact on other government assistance that you and your child receive. Information provided by you on the data spreadsheet or any records obtained for this program will be kept confidential as required by law and will be used only for this project. Once approved, Summer EBT cards will be mailed to the address provided along with a list of participating stores and a food card (shopping list) that will help you identify approved food items.
